Specialised Expertise

Matthew's distinctive background encompasses:

  • Mental capacity assessments and complex family dynamics
  • Medical-legal intersections in private client matters
  • Contentious private client and inheritance disputes
  • Family governance frameworks accounting for individual needs

Medical and Legal Background

Following his medical training, Matthew worked as a resident doctor and associate specialist in psychiatry across East Anglia and South East England, serving in physical health medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was offered a highly competitive consultancy run-through training programme in intellectual disability psychiatry before transitioning to law. His transition was informed by his fascination with the interplay between medicine and law, and a particular interest in mental capacity from his extensive experience with complex assessments during the pandemic.

Matthew's medical training and psychiatric expertise bring a rare dimension to RMW Law's ability to serve clients with complex capacity issues. His psychological insights into family dynamics enhance the firm's approach to sensitive succession planning and wealth structuring matters, enabling comprehensive support for families navigating intricate personal and legal challenges with both clinical precision and legal acumen.
